Some lunatic had to try it sometime. A new project, labeled "psx4iphone" and led by the same programmer responsible for the gpSPhone GameBoy Advance emulator for the iPhone and iPod touch, is in the works to create a PlayStation emulator for the iPhone. According to the project's web site, the program could be done within days were enough people to donate.

Planned features for the final version include sound implementation and memory card support, along with compatibility for a claimed 75% of titles. Exactly how they're going to translate the system's controls, triggers and D-pads to the iPhone's touchscreen is anyone's guess, but it'll make for a cool item once it's said and done.
