Mexens Technology launched Navizon Lite, a free version of their peer-to-peer wireless positioning software. The software gets your positioning by calculating your proximity to the closest cell towers in the area with an accuracy of approximately 1 mile (1.5km).

Navizon Lite is similar to the Google Maps "My Location" feature, which also uses a similar method to calculate the location of a cellular device.

Is 1 mile not quite accurate enough for you? Navizon (full version) might be for you. It uses the cellular positioning of Navizon Lite in combination with Wi-Fi positioning for an accuracy of approximately 30 to 90 feet (10 to 30 meters) in an urban setting.

Navizon Lite is available for the iPhone (obviously), as well as Windows Mobile, Symbian/Nokia, and Blackberry devices.
You can download the free version of Navizon Lite or the full version ($24.99) here.

seeing how the full version was useless in about half of the areas from peoples responses i can't see much reason to download a crappier version...but hey if it works where you live i guess it could be semi-useful

Works so much better now. Before it couldn't locate me. But now it does, with the Lite version!
