for starts let me tell you what I'm using:

iphone firmware 1.1.1 unlocked and jailbroken using the wifi method

windows xp

winscp

I am trying to access my iphones files but everytime I connect using winscp I get a error messege says "network error: connection failed" when using SFTP and same when I change it to FTP. I put my phones ip under host name used port 22 and tried port 21 but didn't make a difference, username as "root" and password is "alpine".

any help will be greatly appreciated Thanks!

Launch WinSCP.exe again, from the WinSCP folder. Type your phone's IP in the Host name box. Change the file protocol to SCP in the dropdown box. In the User name box type "root" and in the Password box type in "alpine". Then click on login.

I had the same error. I reinstalled the BSD Subsystem and then it worked.
