I am VERY interested in upgrading to 1.1.1. I have 1.0.2 right now, unlocked and jailbroken.
Can I use the Hack the iPhone method to upgrade to 1.1.1 even though I used iphonesimfree to unlock my phone? It looks like I need to "re-virginize" the baseband, but the instructions indicate that it is the "process that fixes the security zone that is damaged by unlocking the iPhone using anySIM 1.0x programs and its variants iUnlock, Unlock.app or the hardware unlock method". Since I didn't use any of those methods (did I?), will this process still work?
It looks as though, if this is the process I should use, the procedure (loosely) is to virginize the baseband, use iTunes to upgrade the firmware (don't think this is discussed in the Hack the iPhone instructions), activate using the Hack the iPhone instructions, use jailbreakme.com to jailbreak and install AppSnapp, and then use anySIM to unlock. Is this correct?
Finally, do I use my "other carrier" SIM that I've been using with my unlocked 1.0.2? Do I leave it in during the entire process or should I use no SIM or the AT&T SIM (not on an account) that came with the iPhone? I don't see where this is discussed in the instructions.
I'm not the newest noobie, but I'm VERY nervous. This is my primary phone and I need it to work. I'd like the features of 1.1.1 (especially the louder volumes, MP3 email attachment playback, home button features, and the "." shortcut) but PLEASE let me know if this isn't worth it.
What's the risk? I've read about lots of problems, but is this because people didn't follow instructions or is the risk that high that I will not end up with a working phone?
Thanks for all of your help in advance!!!
