I have an active t-mobile sim that works perfect in other phones. i unlocked the iphone (1.1.1) using anysim, and i got the successfully unlocked message. But I still have the dots in the topleft corner, without a carrier name, and with the wifi signal. when I power off/on, I still get the "different sim detected: please connect to itunes" message. please help!

I also posted the same problem which I have just before you did. Seems that nobody knows anything about it or nobody wants to help/respond.

Did you activate the iPhone first? Through AppSnap, iDemocracy or iNdependency?

I activated the iphone at the very beginning with itunes for using the AT&T contract and used it with this contract up to now.

Now I just installed AddSnapp and Anysim.

u need the hacked version of lockdownd in /usr/libexec

iphone are paired with the SIM that they are activated with. to switch SIMs, they need to be paired again. the hacked lockdownd ensures this pairing is not required.

How come that this is never mentioned in the guides?
I assume that this guide is therefore not really working if you activated your iphone with the AT&T contract.

The guide only says: "with an already activated iPhone running 1.1.1, just skip ahead to Step 2 by clicking here".

When you follow the link, the guide never mentions anything about lockdownd or that the iphone is paired to the AT&T card when you activated it with this card.

Is this explained somewhere and I missed it?

most of the instruction sets or guidelines seem to miss something or the other. a large number of the guidelines seem to miss the final step of reloading the Comms module and replacing the lockdownd daemon

here's one example which includes the lockdownd step without explanation
(btw, most guidelines don't provide explanation of the steps either)

just to make sure that I understood it:

I installed AddSnapp and everything the guide on this side says.
Now I have to backup the original lockdownd (I guess it could be used again if something goes wrong?) and overwrite it afterwards with the patched one.

Do I now have to run anysim, run it before the "lockdownd" step or do I not have to execute it at all?

Can I now insert different sim cards without patching or unlocking anything again?
