I was wondering if it is possible to upgrade the firmware on an unlocked 1.0.1 iphone continuing to get it unlocked.

yes, mark from hacktheiphone.com did it but he has not posted any guides for windows yet. but just keep on checking and wait.
another option is to pay somebody to do it for you. I had a guy from craigslist.com that was charging me $20 to upgrade my unlocked 1.0.2 iphone
