Assuming you have a sync of your phone and are willing to start again:
I also assume that by 'stock' you mean un touched and NOT unlocked via iunlock, anysim etc etc...
Dock with iTunes
Allow iTunes to perform upgrade to turn phone into a 1.1.1
Then follow this post: (sorry - PC only!)
http://www.iphonealley.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1705
If you download the zip in this that post, close iTunes and end iTunesHelper
Leave the phone in the dock and start the procedure, it will jailbreak, activate, fix youtube and apply anySIM for you
All from ONE click!
Hope this helps

Should I do this the same way for Mac? First upgrade new 1.0.2 Iphone in Itunes to 1.1.1 and then follow the guide on this site...?

no. If you have a mac, stay at 1.0.2. Download independence, and read the guide.
(it will: activate/jailbreak/install ssh --> special upgrade to 1.1.1, activate/jailbreak/install ssh again, and allow you to install anysim1.1 so you can unlock it).

Hi, I've got an similar problem. I got stuck at Step 10 of the Step1 tutorial. I am using a friends MacBook to do it. The Laptop has an working Ethernet connection to the web and the iPhone receives an IP. I can access the internet with my iPhone, though I am unable to succeed the pre 1.1.1 upgrade step. The failure pop up says it's either a problem with the Net/IP (wrong adress) or the SSH (iNdependence told me that everything was installed correctly)???
Any ideas what I could do??
I turned almost everything on (on the MacBook) Internet sharing, file sharing, apple talk...

And is it actually a problem to unlock an iphone if you don't have wifi? Do you just jump over the steps in the guide?
