The program, a 628 kilobyte download (courtesy of MacUpdate), installs to the user's Macintosh and doesn't alter the iPhone.

Syphone enables the user to go beyond the feature set provided with the current version of the iPhone firmware and
allows for SMS messages to be viewed, saved and backed up accordingly, including SMS conversations that have been deleted from the iPhone.

The new version of the program adds the following fixes and changes:
-Connecting and disconnecting a phone without syncing with iTunes no longer causes a crash.
-iPhones with the same name but different serial numbers are now available in the UI and work as expected.
-Resizing the Syphone window no longer causes odd splash screen behavior.
-The helper application should no longer enter a CPU-intensive state when not syncing or otherwise doing work.

Syphone 0.99b11 requires an iPhone and a Macintosh running Mac OS X with iTunes 7.4 or later to run.
