"This iPhone must be used with an approved SIM" is the message i get after trying several methods...

First with iBrickr, lockdownd,iUnlock (which after executing "iUnlock ICE03.14.08_G.fls nor" said "FW differences found. Enjoy" and at the end when u type in the minicom:
AT+CLCK="PN",0,"00000000"
AT+CLCK="PN",2

Always got ERROR.... ALWAYS

Then i tried using iUnlock.app and it said "Enjoy", no problems found there

As a last resource i tried anySim 1.0.2 and when it was updating firware it said "firware already patched turn off iPhone and turn it on again"

All apps work fine including YOUTUBE, but noyt the SIM.... the iPhone's FW was 1.1.1 and i downgraded to 1.0.2 before trying all mentioned with iTunes Restore option.

Ive spent like 10 hours in all of this... please somebody help me, I dont know what else to do and don't wanna brick my precious :(

Thanks for any help or try

//---------------------------------------------------

UPDATE!!

Maybe this can be useful for some ppl out there:

I was with a new FW ver. 1.1.1 iPhone and tried first with iUnlock, then Unlock.app and finally with anySim 1.02 and nothing worked. always "Incorrect SIM"; today i tried the new 2 Steps in www.hacktheiphone.com and it worked at perfection.

Step 1. (http://www.hacktheiphone.com/111/iphone_step1_mac.html)
Step 2. (http://www.hacktheiphone.com/111/iphone_step2_mac.html)

I must tell you after failed tries, i virginize iPhone by downgrading to 1.0.2 (with FW file that you can find at http://www.modmyiphone.com (http://www.modmyiphone.com/forums/downloads.php?do=file&id=479)) and after that, i upgraded it to 1.1.1 via iTunes (by setting the iPhone in Restore Mode. The first time i tried to upgrade firmware to 1.1.1 it didnt work, so i tried in XP machine and it worked.). After all, my iPhone is unlocked and with 1.1.1 FW :D

The only problem is at the moment is only tutorials for OS X

if you dont have how, wait for tutorials for XP o try the next:

Downgrade v1.1.1 to v1.0.2 + Activation + YouTube + Unlock (Windows) (http://www.modmyiphone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10461&highlight=downgrade+baseband+1.1.1)

This downgrades baseband to 3.xx (FW 1..0.2) (I tried and it did downgraded but didnt let use another SIM; several ppl said it worked for them).

I hope you find this useful. If need any help, send me a Private Message.

Cheers :D

Hi there...

I am having Sim unlocking issues also :-( Not much fun!!! always getting the message;

"Incorrect Sim, Insert an unlocked and valid sim to activate iPhone"...

I am using windows and do not have the At&t sim card as i'm in New Zealand! Surely there must be a way to unlock and use my Vodafone sim card???

The phone was working but like an idiot I didn't think anything was up when i was prompted to upgrade to 1.1.1 - which I did and now i'm locked out of what was pretty much a fully functioning iPhone...

Does anyone know a way using windows that i can unlock my iPhone to use my vodafone sim? Have looked everywhere to no avail...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Try the Downgrade v1.1.1 to v1.0.2 + Activation + YouTube + Unlock (Windows) link above in my first post, it might help you to downgrade your FW and Baseband Version :)

Hey there, I too am gettign this error. It was a brank new 1.1.1 phone. I used the tutorial at hacktheiphone.com by way of iNdependence 1.2.4. Everything went as it should have (based on my phone and the screen shots on the site). Now i just get this error.

Has anyone been sucessful with the hacktheiphone.com/iNdependence method?

I am going to restore the phone and try from scratch today and hope I missed something (but I really doubt it) and a second go around may work.

BTW - no windows here to try the win based methods.

@dnk: have you been successful?

no, not yet. I had to do some stuff to get the phone restored, and just finished a second go at it, and had the same end result. iNdepenence shows everythign as it should be, then I drop in my sim, and i get the same error about the sim card. All other functions seem to work fine.... but the sim.
ack!

ok, I got this figured out... it was my misunderstanding about independence.. it is not a sim unlocker.,....

so I also had to use anysime after I went through the independence steps!

Hi all,

I just finish unlock my iphone with this method and worked just fine...
First downgrade... independence (1.2.5)... upgrade in itunes(7.4.2)... independence... anysim (1.1.0).. and it works just fine with a vodafone SIM card...

I just follow the steps 1 and 2 on hacktheiphone site and that's it...

The iNdependence and anysim method worked perfect for me. I did all the steps from hacktheiphone.com and then just tacked on the anysim steps at the end. I used a fido sim (canada). Totally unlocked. Probably going to brick the phone and do it one more time.

i'm a little bit confused about that statement:
"You must close iTunes and iTunes helper EVERY SINGLE TIME you intend to hack your iPhone."

do i have to quit the itunes helper every time the guide says that i need to quit itunes?
or is it only necessary at the very first step?

thanks for your help!

Hi all

I am also getting the 'incorrect sim' please connect to itunes to reactivate iphone' message.

I have a brand new 1.1.1 iphone, I downgraded to 1.0.2 using ibrickr and activated through wiNstaller, everything okay. I then installed anySIM1.1 and again all went okay, finishing with a message of 'phone successfully unlock'
HOWEVER when I put my vodafone sim in, I get the error message

I tried running anySIM1.1 again, but fails (assuming because it's already unlocked). Is it safe to restore and start from scratch again? or try another unlocking method? any help appreciated

Thanks

Same issue here with my e-plus card.
Everything went fine and anysim says that my phone is unlocked successfully but the same annoying message comes. I did everything like it said in 2-step manual.

Any ideas???

When running anySIM, it says "please make sure your new sim is in" or something like that. What new sim is it referring too? I don't have the sim the phone came with.

All, I originally had an iphone that was 1.1.1 when i got it (not sure if i was 1.1.1 out of the box) and tried unlocking it to use a local sim with the no computer iphone hack method. I had it working for a day and then it started booting to the activate screen and then to connect to itunes screen loop. i have it back to the activate screen with the invalid sim msg in itunes. At this point i have no idea what ver it is as i have tried to restore to 1.0.2 but get the 10012 msg not the 10013 msg as the restore instructions say.

My only goal now is to get it back to normal operations with the working at&t sim
