Okay, so.
I have a black, 8 GB iPhone 3G, and in my stupidity, I moved to firmware 3.1

Now. I have been reading up on the internet, and have tried quite a few methods of downgrading and/or jailbreak that I have read about and none have worked.

If I just try a straight jailbreak, I get either a 1600, or 1604 error. It doesn't really do anything to the phone, and with a restart I can load my phone to the dashboard.

If I 3.1 to 3.0 downgrade, I get a 1015 error, and nothing works. Restarting the phone only puts it in restore mode, and I have to reinstall 3.1 to do anything. RedSn0w fails at where its loading carrier info.

Two questions;

#1; how can I jailbreak this 3.1 phone using Windows? (I don't have a Mac)
#2; Does it matter which custom ipsw I use?

Thanks for the help.
