View Full Version : Installer.app in 1.1.1!

I somehow accidently got Installer.app to work with 1.1.1! I don't know if the results are repeatable, but I'll tell you how I got it (I might post video later, don't have time now).
I installed 1.1.1 regularly the other day, and lost AppTapp after having to restore. But today, after the downgrade became available, I did that. I successfully installed 1.0.2, and had Installer.app working. But I wanted to get 1.1.1 back, so I hit update in iTunes, it told me I needed to restore my phone. I clicked 'Restore' but it froze. So I relaunched iTunes, and clicked update. But this time, it didn't ask me to restore. It updated as regular, and now I have AppTapp installer on my home screen, along with the iTunes icon. I also can download the apps.
Anyone else want to try this to verify if it isn't just an isolated case?

OMG, you're my new favorite person. I submitted this link to TUAW in the hopes that they'll test this method/make it widely known.
In the meantime, can someone else test this? I would, but I'm too afraid to lose my 3rd party apps for good!

Hopefully, people test/confirm this approach before they start calling BS - which is what happened to Kmac1985 last night. I happened to be reading as it all transpired. The guy went from the dog house being nominated for the white house in the span of about 5 minutes and 50+ pages of posts.

Don't get your hopes up yet. It doesn't seem to be working on the other iPhone I have laying around, and my iPhone I think needs to be restored. It won't connect to AT&T, and it now randomly turns off and is freezing like crazy. Newly downloaded apps don't show on the home screen until the phone is turned off, and Installer.app crashes 3 out of 4 times of opening... not really worth it. I'll see if I can get a chance to make a quick video, I've been too busy.

EDIT- my phone won't turn on now, it gets to the home screen, and freezes (nothing works), then the Spinning wait thing appears in the center, and it shuts down. I think I need to restore.
