how to update ver.1.0 to 1.0.2 without itunes?

I have a 4gb iphone (unlocked with anysim 1.0.2) with 1.0 firmware. I want to upgrade my phone to 1.0.2. So I connect my phone on my mac, and open iTunes.
Hold down the option key and click the restore button. And iTunes ask to choose the file. if I download the 1.0.2 firmware from this site (iPhone1,1_1.0.2_1C28_Restore.ipsw) then I choise this file and load it, is right?. Is this a good method, or not? What should I do?

It's perfectly fine... In fact I've just done the same.

However, your iPhone will need activation and unlocking to work again, and your apps and data will be wiped!
