You know what I was thinking is that with the AppleTV it has OS X on it. Those guys were able to hack it pretty easily because it's almost idtenticle to the desktop version. Do you guys think we'll be able to do the same kind of thing with the iPhone?

Honestly, that's the idea with this portion of the forums. Hopefully we'll be able to hack just about anything we want onto our iPhones. Firefox, Divx support. I can't wait!

Yeah, that would be really cool, though a fully fledged osx would mean wed need to throw an externa keyboard on, along with some other things.
I cant wait for it to come out, and see what people will manage to do.

Here's a question though; if we manage to hack Skype onto it, and it becomes a public enough hack for Apple/AT&T investors to notice, how would that effect the iPhone? I think it could be quite devastating and introduce an iPhone DRM situation. While some things could be really cool, are they really worth it?

That is a good point you have, getting skype on there could have some pretty bad potential (Though you still would have to pay the monthly fee, just a far less chance of going over your plan). As for osx it is going to have to be a really stripped down version to fit on 4 gig. Also using your finger as a mouse wont be very efficient, though im looking forward to seeing what people get the phone doing.

As i have lost several liters of fluid from drooling over the iPhone, and i ain't from USA, nor Canada. I have -of course- been very anxious to know about anybody cracking the activation process (activating the features) and unlocking it for use on other networks than AT&T. This would mean an early "release" internationally, if it would work.
Anyone seeing this happen sometime? Or what are your thoughts on that?

Just curious, why on Earth would you want Firefox on the iPhone?

It's more about being able to do it than actually having a functional advantage to using it over Safari. I'm sure there are quite a few people who want to do some much crazier things. Is there anything you'd like to see on an iPhone?

Also firefox is a far better browser than safari.

DivX would be phenomenal on the iPhone. I mean, h.264 is so much nicer, but I'm too lazy to convert all my stuff to that :P

This seems pretty nifty:
