View Full Version : How i Fixed the "Incorrect sim" and "emergency calls only"
r3dr0247
March 18th, 2009, 02:36 AM
i had to downgrade my iphone to a crappy phone since my dad didnt want to pay for my internet access so i decided to unlock and jailbreak my iphone. i got the jailbreak right away but whenever i tried using my new sim from my brand new samsung phone all it did was show up the incorrect sim message and i was stuck in the emergency calls screen. i dont know if thats whats going on with you guys, and if thats the problem, i can tell you exactly what i did to my phone to fix that. i have a first gen iphone working on 2.2.1, and i used the latest quickpwn. this is exactly what i did follow these steps and let me know if it works =]
1.- ok before anything you should change the sim on your phone to the sim which you're going to use.... the first thing you need to do is move all the updates from the itunes folder, it doesnt matter where you put them, if you want you can make a new folder on your desktop or wherever you want it to be as long as you move ALL the updates and leave that folder empty it should be located in [documents and settings/**your username**/Application Data/Apple computer/Itunes/Iphone Software Update]
**NOTE**
if you cant find the application data folder you need to show hidden files or folders, for that you need to open My computer/tools/folder options/view and check for show hidden files or folders
2.- once you're done with all that you need to connect your iphone to your pc and open itunes, once itunes detected your iphone hold the home button + the lock button till your iphone turns off, your iphone should disappear from itunes, and once its off continue holding the home button till itunes detects the iphone in recovery mode.
3.- once this is done itunes will ask you to update and restore your iphone (i think it says that or something like that) all you have to do is click yes, let itunes do all the work, next is the most important part and you need to get this right or else IT WONT WORK!
4.- this one is the most important part!! dont get this wrong or else it wont work. once everything is done, once the update has been downloaded, your phone should reboot and next you will see a message from itunes that says "leave your iphone plugged in to restore" or some sort of message like that well DONT LET IT RESTORE, ONCE YOU SEE THAT MESSAGE AND A COUNT DOWN (THATS HOW IT WAS FOR ME) CLOSE ITUNES AND LEAVE YOUR IPHONE PLUGGED IN
5.- once all that is done, just do exactly what you did to jailbreak, and unlock your phone the first time (if you have never done this go watch the video i posted below) but in this case when the program tells you to choose the firmware Choose the firmware that itunes downloaded for you!!! (using quickpwn you really dont have to browse for it, thats the main reason why you moved all the updates from that folder to a different one)
i used the latest quickpwn, and downloaded the bootloaders and followed all the steps with quickpwn. i never really used pwnage tool but idk if its the same.
well i hope it goes well for you guys and thank me if it worked =]

no, didnt come with a sim
r3dr0247
July 10th, 2009, 11:50 PM
before anything take out your sim.. leave your phone without a sim card
then what you can do is first update or install itunes 8.2 to your pc or mac once thats done plug in your iphone to your computer and press and hold the home button and the off/on button until itunes detects it on recovery mode once its on recovery mode let itunes update your phone and all it should guide you through everything
once all this is done your phone should be updated to its latest firmware which is 3.0
once thats done go to this link and this video should guide you through the jailbreak
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDDEN3zfQOg
and once jailbroken this next video should guide you through the unlock for your sim
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AxML7FkwfgE
try it and let me know if you're still stuck on that emergency screen
