Hi all,

I'm new to the scene so excuse my ignorance. I recently QuickPwn'd my iphone 3g and installed yellowsn0w. I was wondering if anyone knew what services were available from Zain or Asiacell. I'm planning on buying a sim card for those networks but was curious if data was also supported. Would I be able to use Safari, email, or Cydia/Installer via their networks? I don't have access to WiFi where I'm at.

The Iraqna Asia Cell pre-paid international SIM card is a great way to communicate while in Iraq. Because the Iraq SIM Card will need to be reloaded within 17 days of activation in order to remain active, this SIM may not be practical for all users. Your data / GPRS question is a difficult one because data, as you may know, is not always allowed on prepaid SIMs. Email me back on what city you plan to use your iPhone in, if you have access to reloads for the SIM and we can respond. We only have the SIM cards not the reloads.

Thanks for the prompt reply. Does the city make a difference? I believe the local vendors have SIMs and reloads available.
And thanks for the heads up, I didn't know about the data aspect on prepaid SIMs. And just so I have this straight, no data/GPRS means absolutely no email/web capabilities?

Look at the bottom of this page for coverage in Iraq cities: http://www.valuesphere.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=SmartCards&Product_Code=Iraq_Travel_SIM

You would have only SMS texting if no GPRS were available.

If you buy the local SIM also see this bounce back service to save money and avoid the need to reload the SIM as often for international calls: http://www.valuesphere.com/intouchsmartcards/bounceback.html
