View Full Version : Sim Card question

Hey guys; I used the Pwnage Tool (awesome by the way...), and I was successful in jailbreaking the phone, but I'm not sure about unlocking it.
When I insert my other two SIMs, (I am a US ATT user living in London: have an Orange pay as you go, and a 3Mobile), it says undetected for the 3 mobile and for the Orange, it halfway works.
The Orange sim seems to receive voicemail, and texts, but it's not working; it says emergency calls only. I've been browsing the forums, and I decided to reinstall the original firmware 2.2.1 to reset it and start anew.
My question is, when I try to unlock it again, should I stick in the Orange SIM card before starting to unlock it? I'm guessing that's what the problem is because I kept my ATT sim inside when I was trying to unlock it. However, if I'm wrong, let me know. I'll wait to get the right answer.

i was having the same exact problem.. i had to downgrade my iphone to a crappy phone since my dad didnt want to pay for my internet acces so i decided to unlock and jailbreak my iphone. i got the jailbreak right away but whenever i tried using my new sim from my brand new samsung phone all it did was show up the incorrect sim message and i was stuck in the emergency calls screen. i dont know if thats whats going on with you but i can tell you exactly what i did to my phone. i have a first gen iphone working on 2.2.1, and i used the latest quickpwn. but pwnage tool should work as well, anyway this is exactly what i did follow these steps and let me know if it works =]
1.- ok before anything you should change the sim on your phone to the sim which you're going to use.... the first thing you need to do is move all the updates from the itunes folder, it doesnt matter where you put them, if you want you can make a new folder on your desktop or wherever you want it to be as long as you move ALL the updates and leave that folder empty it should be located in [documents and settings/**your username**/Application Data/Apple computer/Itunes/Iphone Software Update]
**NOTE**
if you cant find the application data folder you need to show hidden files or folders, for that you need to open My computer/tools/folder options/view and check for show hidden files or folders
2.- once you're done with all that you need to connect your iphone to your pc and open itunes, once itunes detected your iphone hold the home button + the lock button till your iphone turns off, your iphone should disappear from itunes, and once its off continue holding the home button till itunes detects the iphone in recovery mode.
3.- once this is done itunes will ask you to update and restore your iphone (i think it says that or something like that) all you have to do is click yes, let itunes do all the work, next is the most important part and you need to get this right or else IT WONT WORK!
4.- this one is the most important part!! dont get this wrong or else it wont work. once everything is done, once the update has been downloaded, your phone should reboot and next you will see a message from itunes that says "leave your iphone plugged in to restore" or some sort of message like that well DONT LET IT RESTORE, ONCE YOU SEE THAT MESSAGE AND A COUNT DOWN (THATS HOW IT WAS FOR ME) CLOSE ITUNES AND LEAVE YOUR IPHONE PLUGGED IN
5.- once all that is done, just do exactly what you did to jailbreak, and unlock your phone the first time but in this case when the program tells you to choose the firmware Choose the firmware that itunes downloaded for you!!!
i used the latest quickpwn, and downloaded the bootloaders and followed all the steps with quickpwn, i never really used pwnage tool but idk if its the same.
well i hope it goes well for you and thank me if it worked =]
