HEADS UP ITUNES 7.3 USERS WHO HAVE BEEN WAINTING TO UPDATE, OR USERS OF 7.4.1 APPLE HAS RELEASED A NEW VERSION OF ITUNES 7.4.2 THAT NO LONGER WORKS WITH HACKED RINGTONES THROUGH THE NEW IFUNTASTIC

Upon noticing that there’s a new version of ifuntastic I scrambled to download it. You see ive been waiting to update my itunes as I didn’t want to break any of the 3rd party apps, and I will never pay for ring tones I prefer to roll my own always have always will beside who knows better then me what I want as a ring tone.

I just updated Itunes from version 7.3 thinking that the new funtastic would work fine not noticing in software update that I was actually updating to version 7.4.2 (which is not supported by ifuntastic) when I had intended to only update to 7.4.1 I’ve spent the last hour or so playing with the ring tone feature to no avail... they are not added to my ring tone play list.... so im guessing this also applies to the manual way to add ring tones as well since that is what IFUNTASTIC basically does using the Atomic Parsley app etc...

Still poking around to see what else is broken, as I seem to be the test dummy on this one.

Would someone let the poor guys at ifuntastic know that there’s a new version of I tunes (I bet they will be thrilled as I am)

What a mess apple!!!! For many reasons I regret my IPhone and ringtones is one sore thumb. I miss my symbian v1 6620 phone that I swapped from to get an IPhone. I was able to sync with contacts get free 3rd party apps like nes and of course put any ringtones id like on there including Ogg's with an extra plug-in for symbian that was readily available through 3rd party sites... The whole 9 yards, and no jailbreaking, unshackleing. Or any other modification required. STANDARD FEATURES (OPEN SOURCE) Maybe I need a Linux or symbian phone...

Foolish me for thinking that apple would produce a good cell phone allowing any ringtone I choose supporting mp3 aac wav ... maybe even ogg at some point through some special plug-in or modification.

Instead they are trying to turn me into a fool who would pay $2 for a song I own just to downloaded it from them and then convert it into a ringtone once... per 99 c that is. Personally over the past 3-4 years ive had my nokia ive laughed at people who pay anything for a ringtone. Sure maybe its great for those non power users or even inexperienced users but for those of us that know what’s going on let us be. Free ringtones have long been available to those with a little know how!!!

ITS A RINGTONE MADE FROM A SOUND (song or not) ON MY PHONE. A PHONE THAT I PAYED MY MONEY FOR MAKEING IT MY PROPERTY AND ALSO SIGNED MY LIFE AWAY FOR THE NEXT 2 YEARS.
IT’S MY RIGHT TO BE ABLE TO USE IT AS I SEE FIT...

Apple you are annoying your power users

SCHOULD HAVE GOTTEN AN N95 I GUESS

What ticks my butt is that I don't want songs for a ringtone, but a custom sound that I have used for years. 7.4.2 took that away and these fools at apple don't seem to understand that not everyone want music for a ringtone.

Just ssh your ringtones to where your stock ringtone directory is and be done with it! iTunes have not once deleted my ringtones by doing it this way....

Some people would rather not jailbreak their phone and install 3rd party apps just to get ringtones.

Apparently (from another source), Apple fixed the bug that was noted a few days ago regarding the .m4r files not copying to the iPhone. What is "supposed" to happen is that the metadata bit is supposed to be changed AND the file extension is to be set to .m4r for it to copy to the iPhone. However, .m4r files would not copy (only .m4a files would). Because Apple fixed this bug, the software that iFuntastic is using to convert the files needs to also rename the file extension to .m4r, thus allowing it to copy over to the phone. For people who updated to iTunes 7.4.2 and lost your custom ringtones, go to your Ringtones directory (located in the iTunes Music Folder on your hard drive) and rename the files to end in .m4r.

you should try sendsong on apptapp, it allows you to use anything in your library as a ringtone with just a click on your phone

iFuntastic is totally free (although donations are welcome i'm sure).
you can download it free, on the left hand side of this website, in the download section.
however, iFuntastic is for Macintosh only, not windows, sorry.
