My boyfriend bought me an unlocked iPhone that he got through a friend of a friend. Upon inspection, it turns out to be having some problems:
- The touchscreen is not sensitive enough, seems to have spotty responsiveness.
- The home screen icons and app titles don't always match up (i.e. the safari icon says "profiles").
- The home button doesn't always respond.
- The upper left corner 'back' button doesn't always work.
- When I connect it to my Mac, two USB drives appear on my desktop. One shows the data folders of the iPhone. The other contains a PDF file called "3G Conversion Guide", but I can't open it because when I click on that drive on my desktop, it locks up the Finder.
-iTunes doesn't recognize it.

Obviously, I have no idea how it was hacked, so I don't know how to fix it. Especially since it doesn't seem to have a web browser, and I can't use iTunes to load programs.

Any thoughts on what might be happening and how I can possibly fix it? Also, any thoughts on taking it to an Apple store? Is that a really bad idea?
