Every tutorial I've read tells you how to make a custom icon and I've made one in corel photo paint.(png file) Now how do I get it into my phone ?

you gotta have a jailbroken iphone and make a theme..
theres a lot to it as in make a folder and name it your them name than another inside with a folder called Icons and other folders .. or just ssh into your iphone pull out a theme and copy the folders ..

SSh into your iPhone/iPod. Navigate to /private/var/stash/themes. In a theme create a folder called "icons" and copy your new icons here with the exact same name as the application. For example, if you want to change the icon for the facebook app, name the icon "Facebook.png." This works for 3rd party, native and app store application icons.

You don't have to put the icons into an already existing theme, they can be their own theme.
