After countless months of anticipation, TomTom for iPhone, the first turn-by-turn GPS navigation application, was announced at WWDC on Monday. Last year, they announced that the app was in development, confirming it again months afterward, but Apple's SDK didn't allow it at the time. Now it will finally be available following the release of iphone OS 3.0 on the 17th.

The app will include "an Apple version of TomTom's award-winning turn-by-turn navigation software, including IQ Routes and latest maps from Tele Atlas". They also announced a companion car kit for iPhone, which functions as a secure dock while in the car and also enhances GPS performance, as well as clear voice instructions, hands-free calling and in-car charging.

Pricing has not yet been announced for either the app or the car kit.

Curious...

Anyone have an idea how much this combo (car kit and iPhone App) is going to sell for?

I'm not sure what a big name like TomTom will charge for something like this, but I do know that the knockoff-esque (or at least that's what it looks like to me) GPS App "G-Map: US East/West" Apps are $25.00 each, so I'm willing to bet that the App at least will be in the $50.00 price range, if not more. I hope that I'm ungodly wrong, but I wouldn't be surprised either.

My guess $50
