AT&T's carrier settings update that will enable MMS on iPhones running iPhone OS 3.0 and later is now live and available for download in iTunes. To get it, just plug the iPhone into iTunes, wait for it to check for updates, and select "Download and Update" when the prompt appears.
The prompt should look like this:

You can also use the 5.0 ipcc. I've tried both. You may need to stop by help.benm.at to get your tethering working again on 5.5 however.
gotta restart the iPhone
Yes don't forget you have to restart the iPhone before the settings take effect.

I just did it and it works perfect on a jailbroken 3GS with 3.0.1

Re: MMS not available on First Gen iPhone
AT&T and Apple did not make this update available for First Generation iPhone users.
Why do you think they wouldn't allow it? Technical difficulty in using the EDGE network or a convenient addition to the reasons to upgrade to iPhone 3G/iPhone 3GS?
I would like some views on this. I have sent an inquiry through the iPhone Alley Contact Us page as well as to Apple.
I will let you know on any responses.

I've tried everything. Hard Reset, Power off, Removed/Reinserted Sim card, Reset Network Settings, Restore. I called AT&T, they said my account looks fine from their end. I'm going to have to call 1-800-myiphon for more help.
My wife's iPhone will send MMS just fine. It's weird.
It's AT&T, not the software upgrade that sucks
