MMS Now Live on AT&T, New Carrier Update Available

AT&T's carrier settings update that will enable MMS on iPhones running iPhone OS 3.0 and later is now live and available for download in iTunes. To get it, just plug the iPhone into iTunes, wait for it to check for updates, and select "Download and Update" when the prompt appears.

The prompt should look like this:

If you have any trouble, you may wish to consult the Apple Support Document.

and mms has already crashed within 3 hours

Will download and try it out tonight.

doesn't work on 3.0?

so there's no way to apply the carrier update on 3.0? given that there's no jailbreak for 3.1 on the 3GS yet, I really don't want to update. assuming this will mean i lose the ability to tether as well? ugh!

I have the carrier update on 3.0.1 jailbroken 3G S. Just download the ipcc and option click update in itunes to install the file.

http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite....h5/ATT_US.ipcc

You can also use the 5.0 ipcc. I've tried both. You may need to stop by help.benm.at to get your tethering working again on 5.5 however.

Sweet, thank you. I'll try this when I get home this evening.

gotta restart the iPhone

Yes don't forget you have to restart the iPhone before the settings take effect.

Like the other guy said you do NOT NEED TO UPGRADE TO 3.1 to have mms, just Download the file and throw it on your godly phone and tada

Re: MMS not available on First Gen iPhone

What do you have to say about this?

AT&T and Apple did not make this update available for First Generation iPhone users.

Why do you think they wouldn't allow it? Technical difficulty in using the EDGE network or a convenient addition to the reasons to upgrade to iPhone 3G/iPhone 3GS?

I would like some views on this. I have sent an inquiry through the iPhone Alley Contact Us page as well as to Apple.

I will let you know on any responses.

Alex

I have the update but I cannot send MMS. I get the exclamation point saying there is an error and cannot send message. Text goes through just fine.

I've tried everything. Hard Reset, Power off, Removed/Reinserted Sim card, Reset Network Settings, Restore. I called AT&T, they said my account looks fine from their end. I'm going to have to call 1-800-myiphon for more help.

My wife's iPhone will send MMS just fine. It's weird.

It's AT&T, not the software upgrade that sucks

It't not weird. It's AT&T. The month before the release I had about 50% of my calls dropped. It improved the week before the release, and now I can't hardly get a call through. If I am in a crowded place, I can get a signal, but no messages or calls go through. I basically had a nice PDA for the past two days
