Is This The New iPhone? (3G iPhone Photos Taken From Photoshop File)

We've just received an email from an anonymous tipster claiming to have pictures of the 3G iPhone in all its glory. The pictures, hosted on a Flickr account, show an open Photoshop window with what appears to be black and red versions of the iPhone. These phones also seem to have video conferencing capabilities. In the two corners are descriptions of iChat for the iPhone as well as Exchange and Mobile Me descriptions. Photos after the jump!

Things we've noticed about these pictures:

  • These iPhones appear to have 16GB sizes
  • The text "(RED)" is in black. Apple usually shows "(PRODUCT) RED" in red text. See the product RED nano.
  • Speaker and mic grills are in places we haven't seen before
  • The angle of the back is slightly different than we expected from mockups
  • There's a completely new MS Exchange Icon The MS Exchange logo has been around. It's not unique
  • The "answer video call" is totally different from the current iPhone's "answer" dialogue
  • There's an outline on the "frontside camera"
  • The app in use is Photoshop. Designers usually use InDesign

Some of the inconsistencies with rumors seem to increase the potential legitimacy of these images, although others do detract from their legitimacy. That having been said, what do you guys think?

That's definitely another fake. You can tell by the tons of imperfections on all of the images that they couldn't be real photos.

Photoshop

As a designer, I wouldn't necessarily hold the fact that the program being used is photoshop against the authenticity of these pictures. Most designers, including myself, use it in conjunction with Illustrator and InDesign. Some even use it exclusively.

Plus do you really expect "mockups" to be the actual final design? Or the look of the firmware UI to be the same as the 1st gen?

Still, its probably a fake, but who knows till monday.

I'm not really expecting a major overhaul of the UI. I haven't seen anything suggesting that they would do that, nor really need to.

I can't say that I believe it. I wouldn't rule these out, but photoshop? As you mentioned, not a common design software. So again, totally possible, but is it like Apple to let things slip so easy? Oh and it does make sense (if they are putting a frontside camera) to have an outline present so you know where to look. Thanks for posting those though. I would hope the new iphone is something like that.

WWDC rumor photos are so intriguing to me... mostly because people have no sense of design or common sense when creating this "spy shots".

The first thing you have to think about in this picture is... where would Apple even use this? It's not going to be a poster. Nor will it be some fold out brochure. And just look at the size of the text in comparison to the entire document, it's just too small. Also, why is the Exchange header big and bold, but the iChat side gets nil.

And that Exchange logo... I guess Apple has found the fountain of youth in the Google Image Search, for small images under "exchange" (go ahead and look for yourself... graphic designers beware, your days are numbered by this glorious tool... ya. right.).

Side note, why do people want a flash on camera phones? It's a frigin LED that illuminates... it really can't be that amazing (but I'm sure the iFlash would be some miracle product to give lightness forever...).

Finally... would Apple really put a model in a white tshirt, in the middle of New York City (maybe, I'm guessing here). No. They wouldn't. Not only does he look like he has diarrhea and wants to steal your cable, but he seems to be in the middle of the street... stopping traffic while video chatting. This is not Apple marketing material.

(plus the missing sleep/wake on the red iphone is just a dead giveaway)

dam, i wish they have a traid in program for the original iphone users to switch to the 2nd gen iphone with extension of the contract and i wish not but maybe a $100 buck extra payment
i hope this will happen, or ill just jailbreak and Sim free my iphone and sell it to some bloke overseas for the same price or greater then it originally was.

OK, just realized something that proves this is bull. Wifi in the middle of the street/Time Square? Come on... even if there was, you wouldn't be standing in place to stay on that hotspot.
