Apple Begins Shipping New Jailbreak-Resistant iPhone 3GS

Rumors are circulating that Apple has begun shipping an iPhone 3GS that is now impervious to the 24kpwn exploit, making it impossible to do a standard jailbreak for the time being. A screenshot (shown after the break) posted by Mathieulh shows the new version number, and it was confirmed by Dev Team member MuscleNerd.

For now, if you want an iPhone and are really concerned about not being able to jailbreak it, you might try looking for used or refurbished models.

it is like selling a computer which can only run their own software, or the ones sold by them.

if that is legal. i think Microsoft should be able to lock windows

Assholes. It frustrates me to have to go through them as the gatekeeper to anything I can do on my phone.

I Agree...

Its just a phone....i paid for it. i should be able to mod it to my liking. just like i do with my computer.

Don't worry, GeoHot will find a new way to jailbreak soon enough. If not, there will be little reason to buy the next iPhone this summer as opposed to slightly bigger drive and an extra megapixel or two in camera it probably won't be as good as a jailbroken 3GS.
