It was a long, long wait for an iPhone with 3G data capabilities, but now that it's here, people are starting to look toward what's next. The Long Term Evolution Standard, also known as 4G, is the next generation in cellular data after 3G, but AT&T is says not to hold your breath waiting for it to get to the U.S.

Those of you in the U.S. planning to travel internationally in the near future may want to be careful. The Bush administration recently overturned a 22-year-old policy, granting the United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agency the ability to confiscate and search any small portable electronic devices, including iPhones and iPod touches, without probable cause.

According to research firm comScore, America is beginning to catch up to Europe in the number of citizens that are subscribed to a high-speed 3G data network service thanks to the iPhone 3G. The firm reports that 28.4% of Americans right now currently have 3G devices, compared to an average 28.3% in the largest countries in Europe.
