Yesterday Atebits posted an update to Tweetie 2 [App Store, $2.99], which adds a boat load of new features, including support for the new retweet system, lists, and geotagging. It's also gotten quite a few little additions, such as information on trends from What The Trend and detection of "gaps" in the timeline.

Version 2.1 is available as a free update to owners of Tweetie 2. Those with the original Tweetie will need to buy the new version [Tweetie 2 review].

Today Twitter announced that it has enabled geotagging support for third-party Twitter clients, just two weeks after they began rolling out the new retweet feature. Following the announcement from Twitter, Stone Design announced that Twittelator Pro [App Store, $4.99] is the first Twitter client for iPhone to fully support both features. We've also heard from a little birdy that beta versions of Tweetie 2 [App Store, $2.99] already support both features. We're not sure when that update will drop, but we're guessing that it'll be soon.

Loren Brichter announced today that the next major release of Tweetie for iPhone has entered the final development stages and will soon be released. Tweetie 2.0 has been completely re-written and comes with many new features including full landscape mode, video support, drafts, TextExpander support, and more.

Tweetie, currently our favorite twitter client for the iPhone, was updated today with quite a few little enhancements and feature upgrades. Some changes of note are a much better looking "basic" view and an awesome "quick reply/favorite/info" feature which shows up when you swipe from left to right on any particular tweet.

Of all the enhancements included, the most significant is the addition of PEE, or the Popularity EnhancEr.
