App Showcase: i. TV 2.0 Brings TiVo Remote, Push Notifications, Amps Up The Shiny

App Showcase

i.TV version 2.0 [App Store, Free] was released this week with some incredibly compelling new features. For those unfamiliar with the app, i.TV allows you to browse TV listings and new movie releases. In this latest release, i.TV now sports a significantly updated user interface along with a nice performance increase. Likely the most talked about feature will be its new remote capability which allows it to control any network-based device with the proper integration. TiVo is the first to introduce a soft remote for i.TV, although other manufacturers are welcome to add support for their devices.

TiVo Launches iPhone Web App

TiVo is hopping on the iPhone bandwagon by launching the public beta for a new web app that will let you "browse, search and discover" TV shows on any platform and in any browser. Users can set their TiVo DVR remotely from anywhere with the app, and search by actor, title, director, and keyword, as well as browse Daily Recommendations and Most Popular. It also has an "If you like this…" tool for finding new shows.

TiVoRemote Updated With New GUI, More Features

Some of you might remember that we mentioned an app early last month for controlling your TiVo from your iPhone/iPod touch called TiVoRemote. Some of you may have noticed that for an iPhone app, the interface was sort of... well, ugly. Well it's been updated with a sleek new user interface, as well as a few other changes.
