Many iPhone Owners Not Upgrading To iPhone 3.1, Says AdMob

AdMob, a firm that supplies advertising services targeting ad-supported iPhone adds, says that between September 15th and 22nd, only 23% of devices running apps with AdMob adds had updated to iPhone OS 3.1. Nonetheless, they say this is "significant update" compared to other releases. 51% of devices exposed to AdMob ads are still running OS 3.0, and 19% are still running v2.2.1, while 7% are still running v2.0 or earlier.

iPhone Claims 23% Of Smartphone Market In The U.S.

The latest survey by ChangeWave has found that the iPhone has risen in smartphone market share to 23%, up from the 11% they were found to have in July. The increase shows that they are quickly catching up to RIM, which remains the leader at 41%, and only slipped 1% in the same time.

Skyhook: 10% Of Apps Are Location-Aware

Skyhook Wireless, the company who's WPS and XPS technology is used in the iPhone and iPhone 3G to locate devices based on nearby Wi-Fi networks, released a report recently outlining the number of location-aware applications in the App Store and some statistical information about them. According to public App Store data, over 300 of the apps in the App Store are location-aware.

iPhone Causing Increase In Mobile Maps Usage

One of the great things about the iPhone is that it makes it easy and simple to find your way no matter where you are thanks to the Google Maps app. According to internet US age analyst comScore, the use of mobile maps have jumped 82% in the US and 72% in the UK.
