Dev Team: RedSn0w Should Still Work With OS 3.0.1

The iPhone Dev Team informed users of their jailbreaking software that redsn0w should continue to work with iPhone OS 3.0.1 that was released yesterday, the only difference being: "when redsn0w asks you to identify the IPSW used, point it at the 3.0 IPSW instead of the 3.0.1 one. After the jailbreak, reinstall ultrasn0w 0.9 if you need the unlock."

The iPhone Dev Team has released a new version of RedSn0w that jailbreaks the iPhone 3GS, as well as 2G, 3G, and iPod touch 2 on OS 3.0. It runs on both Windows and Mac, and has the same instructions for each as previous versions. The problems with Icy and Cydia have allegedly been resolved, and Ultrasn0w should work on the 3GS after you jailbreak with RedSn0w. Mobile Substrate and Winterboard are also now working on the 3GS. BigBoss is hosting the files here: Windows, Mac.

Dev Team Releases Redsn0w Beta For Jailbreaking iPod Touch 2G

In a post earlier today on their blog, the Dev Team announced that they are releasing a public beta version of redsn0w, their simplified jailbreak for the iPod touch 2G. It currently runs in the command line only, but is being added to their GUI applications and will be released "sometime soon". You can download the redsn0w beta from Redsn0w.com.

Dev-Team Releases Unsupported 2G iPod touch Jailbreak

The iPhone Dev-Team has released an unsupported version of the upcoming 2G iPod touch jailbreak, dubbed "redsn0w." Available at redsn0w.com, the jailbreak is Mac-only and does not include a GUI. Because the process is "tethered" and involves using the command-line, the Dev-Team cautions that only experienced users attempt the jailbreak. Furthermore, they will not be providing any support on their blog.

If you're willing to attempt the jailbreak be sure to read the instructions first. If it seems too difficult, we advise waiting for a supported release.

Thanks to Andrew for the tip!
