Lightsaber Unleashed Hits The App Store [Update 2: Now available]

TheMacBox released the update to their popular PhoneSaber application today with many new features and additions since the last version. You may remember that PhoneSaber was pulled from the App Store last month. We later learned that it was removed at the request of Lucasfilm Ltd in order for them to create an official version called Lightsaber Unleashed.

LightSaber Unleashed Awaiting App Store Approval

After PhoneSaber's removal from the App Store by the developer, The Mac Box has announced that the official revision of the app, titled LightSaber Unleashed, is complete and is awaiting review to get into the App Store. The new app will have several additional features not previously available to the developer, such as the real sound effects from the movie and the "dueling music", as well as characters from the game.

PhoneSaber Coming Back To App Store As 'PhoneSaber Unleashed'

We were all sad to see PhoneSaber get pulled from the App Store due to copyright claims by mobile Star Wars rights holder THQ Wireless, but THQ announced today that it will be coming back soon. They will be re-launching PhoneSaber under the name PhoneSaber "Unleashed" and will coincide with the launch of the console game Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.

PhoneSaber Pulled From App Store

PhoneSaber, the popular iPhone app that makes lightsaber sound effects, has been pulled from the App Store at the request of THQ Wireless. The company currently owns the rights to Star Wars apps on mobile devices, and has very politely requested that TheMacBox, PhoneSaber's creators, remove it from the iTunes store. Luckily they say that THQ Wireless isn't being mean about it and have said they are looking to collaborate with them to create an official Star Wars version.
