iTunes 9 Breaks Palm Pre Sync... Again

After the release of iTunes 9 yesterday, Palm Pre users are once again finding that their phones no longer sync with the latest version of the software. Of course this comes as no surprise considering that the Pre has not received authorization from Apple to sync with the software. In the past Palm has fixed iTunes syncing when it broke under iTunes 8.2.1 and we expect them to do the same.

PreCentral believes that Palm may slip the fix into the recently delayed 1.2 software.

Meanwhile I hear a strange noise coming from the abyss. Is that the sound of iPhone owners collectively not caring? I think it may be. Please let us know in the comments if you want to hear more about this sort of thing.

Apple Releases iTunes 8.2.1, Breaks Palm Pre Sync

Apple released iTunes 8.2.1 earlier today. Apple's site says the update "provides a number of important bug fixes and addresses an issue with verification of Apple devices." Interestingly, while us iPhone users should be fine, it reportedly breaks the ability to be synced with the Palm Pre. Good thing we have these iPhones instead. You can download 8.2.1 via Software Update, or you can download it here.

Palm Pre To Sync With iTunes?

As if the hype around the Pre weren't already enough, the iPhone may be losing part of their competitive edge to the Palm device in an area that no few other smartphones no MP3 players have: iTunes. It was briefly mentioned by a Palm rep at CES earlier this year that the device will be the the first non-Apple smartphone that will be able to sync with iTunes.
