iPhone OS 2.2

iPhone Software Update 2.2 Coming Next Friday

According to Greek iPhone site iPhone Hellas, Apple will be releasing the next iPhone software update on November 21st. Included in the release are most of the features we've been expecting.

iPhone Hellas believes we'll see minor changes to Safari, Google walking directions and public transit info, as well as some other minor tweaks and additions. There's still no word on push notifications or copy/paste and so we're not expecting either in this next release.

Direct Podcast Downloads Coming In 2.2 Update?

TUAW has received screenshots from a tipster which show what looks to be another new feature in the upcoming iPhone 2.2 Software Update. It now appears that new podcast episodes will be able to be downloaded directly to your iPhone (and possibly iPod touch) without the need to sync with iTunes. According to the tipster, the "Get More Episodes" button doesn't do anything at the moment, although it's likely due to the software's beta status.

Dev Team Gets Their Hands On 2.2 Software Beta

Not long after Apple started testing of version 2.2 of the iPhone software, the iPhone Dev Team has already gotten their hands on it. They've managed to uncover a few interesting details on the new software, the most important being that 2.2 still contains the hardware that is already vulnerable to the pwnage exploit, meaning that a new Pwnage Tool should work.
