2.0 Software Jailbreak Method For Windows Users

Feeling left out because Mac users have the Pwnage Tool for 2.0 but WinPwn for 2.0 isn't out yet? Not to worry. A method has been found for jailbreaking your first-gen iPhone (sorry 3G owners) running the new 2.0 software with a Windows machine. The people at iUnlocked.org have posted a step-by-step guide to jailbreaking your 1st gen iPhone with the 2.0 software. (Keep in mind that we haven't tried it ourselves, so do this at your own risk, etc.) You can see the full guide at iunlocked.org.

2.0 Firmware Reveals Future Printer Connectivity?

New clues to future features and wireless hardware compatibility have been uncovered. The iPhone 2.0 firmware package has been decrypted, and upon further poking around in it's file structure, a new directory was spotted named "Printers". It is currently empty, but speculation is that it may be populated with drivers in the future that would enable the iPhone to wirelessly connect to a printer over a network.

2.0 Software Adds Embedded YouTube Video Support

We're not sure how this managed to slip past us, but the iPhone and iPod touch 2.0 Software adds one more very important feature that we didn't realize until just now, and it will likely change the way you use the web on your iPhone. The new 2.0 software adds the ability to view embedded YouTube apps! (Hurrah!)

Apple Quietly Releases 1.1.5 For iPod Touch

Apple officially released the new 2.0 software for the iPod touch on Saturday, but for those who aren't willing to pay the $9.95 to upgrade, Apple hasn't forgotten about you. They recently released version 1.1.5 for those still running the old software. Still, if you change your mind, you'll get access to MobileMe, Exchange, the App Store, and more. They've even already begun testing on 2.0.1.

iPhone 2.0 (5A347) Software Now (Sort Of) Available

In anticipation of the iPhone 2.0 Software launch on Friday, Apple has added the software to its Software Update file. Although not currently available via iTunes, you can now download the iPhone 2.0 update for original iPhones directly from Apple. Once downloaded, the update can be used to update your iPhone by holding the Option (Shift on Windows) key and clicking "Update" in iTunes. Select the .ipsw file, and you're all set.
