Id Software's highly anticipated iPhone title, DOOM Classic [App Store, $6.99], is now available in the App Store. Ported from the original, DOOM Classic sports all three original episodes as well as the independently created fourth episode, Thy Flesh Consumed. Weighing in at 76.8MB, the game comes with a total of 36 levels from the original first person shooter. Additionally, DOOM Classic also supports wireless multiplayer (we presume over Bluetooth). Multiplayer comes in two flavors; co-op and deathmatch.

Id To Launch iPhone/iPod Exclusive Game 'Doom Resurrection', Original Doom Next Month

John Carmack has annoucned that id Software, in partnership with Escalation Studios, are creating a new Doom game built exclusively for the iPhone and iPod touch called Doom Resurrection. The first person shooter is described as an "on rails" experience, where the player is moved through the levels, having to tilt the device to aim and tap to shoot at the various monsters. It will also include original levels with art from Doom 3 for the PC.

Id Porting Quake, Doom, Wolfenstein To iPhone

MTV.com recently interviewed id Software founder John Carmack, who revealed plans to bring three of their existing lines to the iPhone, as well as a bit on their original iPhone title currently in the works. Carmack said that Wolfenstein RPG is nearing completion, and Quake III is currently running on the device. He also said they hope to bring the whole Quake and Doom lines over at some point.

John Carmack of id Software, creators of the classic game Doom, says that their company is currently working on an original game to be released exclusively for the iPhone and iPod Touch. He also notes that they were hoping to have it done in time for the App Store's launch, but that scheduling and resources didn't line up in time to make it happen.
