Geohot Releases Windows Jailbreak For All Devices, OS 3.1.2

Geohot has just announced the release of blackra1n, which he describes as, "a 30 second ALL device 3.1.2 jailbreak," for Windows. The tool uses the same hack as the tool Chronic released recently, though Geohot is credited as being the first to discover it.

Geohot Releases His Own Soft Unlock For iPhone 3GS

Geohot has published his own unlocking software for the iPhone 3GS. Playing off the Dev Team's Yellowsn0w and Ultrasn0w unlocks, Geohot's unlock is called Purplesn0w, and operates in a similar way to the Dev Team's software, requiring the device to be jailbroken so it can be downloaded through Cydia.

Geohot Updates 3GS Jailbreak For More Windows Versions, Adds Features

Geohot has updated his purplera1n jailbreak for the iPhone 3GS, which adds the following: support for Vista, Windows 7, International, and 64-bit; Less flakiness in the payload; Cydia tar cleaned up; Improved logging with slightly more useful errors; New kernel patches, codesign errors gone. Geohot Releases 3GS Jailbreak For Windows

In response to the Dev Team's decision to wait until OS 3.1 to release a jailbreak for the iPhone 3GS, George Hotz, aka Geohot, has released his own jailbreaking tool for the iPhone 3GS called purplera1n, as he announced on his site. Right now it's only for Windows, but he says a Mac version is next on his list. It's still in beta, and many of the comments on his website are from people experiencing issues like frozen iPhones and compatibility problems with Vista, but an equal number of comments say it works just fine.
