Indie Devs Band Together Against "EDGE" Trademark

Tim Langdell became infamous for his frivolous copyright claims against Mobigame for their super-awesome iPhone game, EDGE [App Store, $4.99], which he said infringed on his copyright on the word. As a result, it was removed by Apple, brought back, removed again, and brought back again, during and after which he also had numerous other apps pulled for also using the world "EDGE" anywhere in their title. Now, to protest Langdell's latest target, several indie developers are putting "EDGE" in the names of their games.

Mobigames' "Edge" Title Returns to the App Store

Right. First, Mobigames' award-winning Edge [App Store, $4.99] iPhone title was published on the App Store. Then it was yanked from the App Store following a copyright issue with its name. Then, per Pocketgamer.co.uk, put back on, taken back off, shaken around a bit, kicked, punched, tickled with a feather and suffered the indignation of knowing far too many lawyers.

EDGE By Mobigame Returns To The App Store

Some of you may remember an incredibly good iPhone game called EDGE that mysteriously vanished from the App Store. The game was released back in February and received quite a bit of critical acclaim, including an incredibly positive review from us. Shortly after its appearance on the App Store, it was pulled due to what turned out to be a frivolous copyright claim. The folks at Mobigame clued us into the back story and now, months later, EDGE has returned [App Store]!

AT&T 3G Network Upgrades Weakening EDGE Network

AT&T's push to strengthen and expand their 3G network in the U.S. has caused their EDGE network to suffer, according to a report by Open for Business. The news isn't surprising, given that much of the improvements were made by switching their EDGE transmitters over to 3G.
