iPhone 3.0 To Bring Copy & Paste, MMS, Tethering, Spotlight, Landscape Email, Stereo Bluetooth, Notes Sync & More

At the iPhone OS 3.0 preview event today, Apple announced the inclusion of Copy & Paste in the upcoming 3.0 software update. MMS will also be coming in an update to the SMS app, which has been renamed to "Messages." Additional features such as multi-photo emailing, landscape email, notes syncing, and Spotlight searching will also be included. The update will be available in the summer.

Kevin Rose: iPhone OS 3.0 To Bring Copy & Paste (And Background Processes?)

World of Apple reports that Kevin Rose leaked details about how copy and paste is to eventually be implemented during a live taping of the popular internet show Diggnation. According to Kevin, selecting text is done by double-tapping on a word, which brings up two quotation marks that can be adjusted to select the text you want. Once the text is selected, you can chose between copying, cutting, or pasting. (Video after the break.)

iPhone 3.0 to Feature Tethering, MMS, Push Notifications, Copy & Paste, Background Processes?

Since its announcement yesterday, there's been quite a bit of speculation about what new features iPhone 3.0 will bring. BoyGeniusReport claims to have some concrete info which points to MMS and USB and Bluetooth tethering as two features which will definitely be included in the new software.

MacRumors believes that we'll see background processes in iPhone 3.0, which we've previously reported.

We were cautiously excited yesterday when we heard about Pastebud, a new web app that hoped to offer a viable copy and paste method for the iPhone and iPod touch. However, when it launched yesterday, users quickly found a critical security issue with the web service. For some reason, users were getting information from other users' clipboards.

There have been a small handful of projects that aimed to finally fill the gaping void left by Apple when they didn't add copy and paste to the iPhone, but so far none have managed to deliver. Now Pastebud is giving it a try, and like many of the others, it's a start.
