Those of you who are fans of SwirlyMMS will be happy to know that the SwirlySpace Team announced that SwirlyMMS 1.2 for firmware 2.x has been released. For those of you who aren't familiar, SwirlyMMS is a stand-in MMS app that lets you send multimedia messages to other SwirlyMMS users. You can send images, text, audio, video, as well as any other filetype you want. 2.1 is compatible with both 2G and 3G iPhones and is now available in Cydia for download.

Search giant Google has announced Google Talk for the iPhone (and iPod touch), a new web app that has been designed specifically for the iPhone's web browser. The app lets you talk to anyone on your Gmail contacts list that's signed in or viewing their Gmail on the web. You can try it out by navigating to http://www.google.com/talk/ on your iPhone or iPod touch.

Thai company AgileMobile has announced the availability of beta versions of two new applications for the iPhone and iPod touch: Agile Messenger and Agile Forces. Aglie Messenger is a multi-protocol instant messaging client for handheld that gives seamless integration of AIM, ICQ, Yahoo!, MSN, Google Talk, and XMPP. Using the app, users can send both text, image, video and voice messages to other users from mobile to mobile or mobile to desktop.

SwirlySpace has announced the launch of SwirlyMMS v1.0 for the iPhone, the finished version of their full-featured native MMS application for the iPhone. Using the application, users can send and receive images, text, audio, video, and any other file type you want, and in any combination simultaneously. It also has a built-in media viewer so messages can be viewed within the application.

The Guided Tour for the iPhone 3G posted by Apple earlier today covered a wide range of topics pertaining to the new iPhone, including the new software and the highly anticipated App Store. tclary, MacRumors reader with a keen eye, spotted an AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) client app in the App Store demo, which would allow users to message other people on AIM. It was up in the air for a while if it would be allowed, but this confirms that it will most likely be in the App Store at it's launch.
