Apple on Thursday released version 3.1.2 of its iPhone OS for the iPhone, iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS handsets. The minor update reportedly fixes a handful of issues with the software. The update offers the following fixes and changes:

• Resolves sporadic issue that may cause iPhone to not wake from sleep.
• Resolves intermittent issue that may interrupt cellular network services until restart..
• Fixes bug that could cause occasional crash during video streaming.

Most of you have probably heard by now that AT&T rolled out MMS today for US iPhone owners. But as the day went on, I got the impression that not everyone fully understands what this means. So for this first edition of iPA Explains, I'll be going over what MMS is, how to get it, and how it works. Let's begin.

Users with iPhones on AT&T's network started getting notifications on Friday that a new carrier settings update is available for download. The update, which is from 2.9 to 3.1, doesn't list exactly which settings are being updated, but may include changes to the default settings for the way it connects to the network, special dialing codes, and the default settings for Stocks, Maps, Weather, and other items.
