iPhone Wins 4 British Technology Awards

Apple brought home five British Technology Awards, four of which went to the iPhone. The device earned Apple Gadget of the Year, Best Mobile Technology, Most Stylish Technology and Technological Innovation of the Year. The other award was for Best Music Technology and went to the iTunes Store. The winners were chosen by public vote. Other notable winners were BBC's iPlayer for Best Online and Best Home Entertainment Technology, and Google Maps for Most Indispensable.

iPhone Wins Stuff Magazine's Gadget Of The Year Award

The iPhone 3G managed to beat out the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii Fit and B&W Zeppelin iPod speakers for Stuff Magazine's annual Gadget of the Year award. Voters chose between nominees, judging them for performance, design, value, and as Stuff editor Fraser MacDonald put it, "that elusive cool factor".

Ive Given MDA Personal Achievement Award For iPhone's Design

Jonathan Ive, Apple's Senior VP of Industrial Design (the guy who helped put the shiny in the iPhone) has been awarded the 2008 MDA Personal Achievement Award an award by the Mobile Data Association, a UK group honoring "those UK companies and individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to the uptake and success of mobile data over the last 12 months."
