On Thursday, Apple released iTunes 9.0.2, the latest version of its media player and software hub for devices such as the iPhone and iPod touch. The new version, a 92.8 megabyte download, adds support for Apple TV software version 3.0, adds an option for a dark background for Grid View, and improves support for accessibility.

It's not the most exciting thing in the world, but it's relevant. Per Macworld, Apple has received permission by the Financial Accounting Standards Board to move beyond previous accounting regulations which required Apple to recognize revenue from the iPhone and Apple TV over the length of their two-year product lifetimes, since the company had promised to roll out new features via software updates. The new rules allow Apple to adjust the percentage realized at sale to a more accurate level. The change could also mean an end to charges for iPod touch software updates.

Apple released an update for the Apple TV and Apple Remote App recently that allows you navigate your Apple TV using gesture controls on the iPhone or iPod touch. While using the gestures, the screen turns into a blank sort of track pad for the device, taking in the gestures. Screenshots after the break.
