Apple has announced that, just like last year's iPhone launch, they will be temporarily shutting down their 5th Avenue flagship store in the U.S. to prepare for the launch. They will be closing the doors at midnight on the 10th, and will reopen at 8AM. While the shutdown was expected, it is significant given that the store is normally open 24-hours a day year-round.

More information has been found on the group of five heading up the line of iPhone-waiters in NY. It turns out that they're with a group called TheWhoFarm, an environmental collective seeking publicity to further their mission of persuading the next President of the U.S. to transform the 17-acre lawn of the White House into an organic farm.

The iPhone 3G launch is about 1 week away and people have started lining up outside Apple's flagship store in New York. Apparently the family at the front of the line are standing there in an attempt to break a world record for standing in line.
