Supposed iPad 3 Debug Tool Shows Device Capabilities
Images taken of a purported debug tool connected to Apple’s next-generation, iPad 3 on Boy Genius Reports‘ behalf have been published online. The multiple images support the possible notion that the this year’s iteration of the Cuptertino-based company’s popular tablet will have LTE capabilities as well as feature a QuadCore processor.
The current iPhone doesn’t have 4G LTE support, though its older brother is rumored to sport the capabilities when it’s released sometime this year. Additionally, it’s said that the iPhone 5 supposed to be released sometime this Summer, will also run on the 4G LTE network. In June of last year, it was publicly published by 9to5Mac that one analysist expected Apple’s 5th generation, which became the 4S would have the support, and people were very disappointed when they figured out that Apple wouldn’t be upgrading to the superior technology to the current 3G network that the iPhone runs on when roaming.
Numerous model numbers and other identification codes in the images of the debug tool show that the iPad 3 will run on 4G LTE and will have an A6, QuadCore, processor – the fastest processor in comparison to all of the current iOS devices. Summarized officially:
“For starters, the model numbers are J1 and J2 (iPad3,1 and iPad3,2), and while DigiTimes reported this a few weeks ago, these two models are not different devices, just a single iPad available in two versions — one with Wi-Fi only and one with Wi-Fi and embedded GSM/CDMA/LTE for all carriers. Also included in the photos is, for the first time, confirmation of which processor Apple will be using in the iPad 3: an A6 processor with model number S5L8945X. For reference, the Apple A4 model was S5L8930X and the A5 is S5L8940X.”
If the iPad 3 does launch with the aforementioned perks over its predecessor, you can be sure that the iPhone 5 sure to launch sometime in the Summer months will have support for 4G LTE to keep up with competition. We’ll keep you posted. In the meantime, the pictures are featured below:
