iPhone Alley App of the Day – June 5, 2012
Although our staff here at iPhone Alley doesn’t get to review every single worthwhile application that undoubtedly bombard the App Store each and everyday, we keep an eye out for those that promise potential. Our limited number of reviews isn’t reflective of our eyes that are constantly searching the broad confines of the App Store. Below is our pick for today’s best application.
And our app of the day is…
Yahoo! Axis – Search Browser (free)
Yahoo have unexpectedly released a new web browser for desktops, tablets and smartphones. It’s called Axis and bring something new to the table that Apple’s default Safari application hasn’t (or any other third-party browser for iOS). It revolves around searching the web and displaying information in a super-sleek format.
To bring out the search bar, you must pull down from the top. This is a pretty neat function as your web page isn’t covered by a huge navigation bar, but you can accidentally pull down Notification Center (which is a pain). As you start typing your search item, a bunch of websites and their thumbnails will appear to the right. You can swipe through them to pick the best one, although the loading speed can be extremely slow at times. Depending on your device, navigating this unique search area may also lag.
Yahoo! Axis is a perfect replacement for Apple’s default Safari browser. If you aren’t happy with what Safari has to offer, you should definitely check out Axis. It’s free too, so you have nothing to lose.
Remember to tune in for tomorrow’s pick!
